The Sikorsky SH-3 was developed by the famous Igor Sikorsky company in the USA. The type was the winner of a 1957 United States Navy development contract for an amphibious antisubmarine warfare (ASW) helicopter capable of detecting and attacking submarines combining the Hunter-Killer missions in one aircraft. The helicopter which was the was viewed by the world when it picked up the first American moon astronauts from the sea in 1969. Many helicopters were also used for civil operations with off shore, transport, and much more. So more than 1100 were build. It was also built with license by Westland in the U.K, Agusta in Italy and by Mitsubishi in Japan. The Westland made helicopters had other systems and were known as Seaking.

S-61N CHC
This helicopter is a civil helicopter used for Off-Shore transport duties. Dutch registration PH-NZD of CHC company, a worldwide helicopter operator. Photographed at De Kooy / Den Helder airport, Den Helder (NL).

Several scale models exist of the SH-3 and S-61 Very early kits were issued at often odd scales and the well known Airfix S-61 in 1/72 used within the Apollo Moon program. Later, more accurate plastic scale models were issued, like the 1/72 scale Revell and Fujimi models. In 1/48 also a good model by Revell and of Airfix [review]. Several versions exist of the real S-61, and for a "longer" S-61N as used by many offshore companies, a conversion set e.g WhirlyBird resin is required.
No 1/32 scale model is known.
