The A-36 was the ground attack / dive bomber version of the North American P-51 and the subtype was fitted with stronger wing, dive brakes and bomb racks. First flight was October 1942, flying earlier than the P-51 fighter. The A-36 saw action during the Second World War in North Africa and Mediterranean mid 1943 and also in the Far East / Birma from mid 1943.

This A-36A Apache with serial 42-83665 has a livery of the 522nd FBS with nick name "Margie H".  It is on proud display at the USAF museum at Dayton, Ohio.

Some plastic scale models are known (besides modifying an early P-51): in 1/72 from Condor/MPM, Model News Company and Brengun. In 1/32 from Hobbycraft, in 1/48 from High Planes.
