The YS-11 was the first passenger aircraft developed and manufactured in some numbers after the Second World War in Japan. In 1959 the Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing company was established in which 6 Japanese aircraft companies cooperated (Nihon, Shin Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, Fuji, Shin Meiwa, Japan manufacturing). The YS-11 first prototype flew in August 1962 from Nagoya. By 1973 some 182 planes had been manufactured.
Some data: wingspan 32 m, length 26,3 m. MTOW 25,000 kg. Fitted with 2 Rolls Royce Dart mk542 turboprops with 3,050 ESHP. It had a cabin for 64 passengers. Cruise speed 470 km/hr.
